Everything to Know

This blog post is a comprehensive guide on all of the things you should know about your session with me. Things to keep in mind, how to plan your outfits, what to expect from me, etc.

Questionnaires

i need all the info!!

I'll send you a questionnaire before our session so I can get to know you better and make this the best session possible for you!

This helps so that there is no confusion or missed information before our shoot so it's so important for you to fill this out before our session so we have a seamless and fun time.

Before the Session

There is a lot to do to prepare for your session coming up! First, please be sure to pay the remaining balance, you can check how much you owe by reviewing your invoice. Come to the session as prepared as possible! That means coming dressed with an outfit that's been ironed/steamed and ready to have some fun! Make sure you've completed the questionnaire if you haven't already (check your email!)

Be Prepared

What to Bring to the Session

  • First, I recommend bringing a basic large tote bag ( think the ones you'll find at grocery stores/Marshalls checkout aisle- the paper/plastic shopping bags tend to fall apart super quickly)
  • If your hair gets messy/tangled super easily, bring a comb or brush!
  • Cash for parking fees (if applicable, I will always let you know ahead!)
  • Something personal: Whether it’s flowers, a bottle of champagne, or a blanket, even incorporating just one extra styled item, could be a fun way to make your session more unique and personal!
  • If you are wearing heels, bring some slides/sandals to wear while we walk around the location.
  • Any lipstick/lipgloss for touch-ups

Note: You don't need to bring all of these! Typically, just your phone, keys, and lip product touch-ups are perfect.

What to Wear

Planning your outfit can be such a hard task when you want to look nice but also look like yourself! I am here to help in any way possible.

Planning Your Outfit

You want to feel confident and like your best self at the photoshoot. These are my best tips to pick out the right outfit:

  • Wear layers - a jacket/cardigan is a great way to change up your look
  • Choose more muted colors & tones. Don't wear super neon or bright colors that may distract from your photos
  • Check out Pinterest for inspiration!
  • Wear something comfortable that you like!!! If you want to love what you're wearing, then you'll love the photos even more!
  • If you plan to wear heels, bring another pair of flat, comfy shoes to wear while walking around our location
  • If you can't decide on an outfit, bring a backup just in case!
  • Ask me if you need help, inspiration, or anything!

Outfit Options

If you plan to wear one outfit during our session - I highly recommend you wear an outfit with layers. You can wear a 'base outfit' with a basic t-shirt and jeans then swap out a jacket or a sweater to wear on top, these will add more variety to your photos while not taking up a ton of time to change into a new outfit.

If you are planning on changing- I always recommend having a casual outfit and then another that's more dressed up. I love skirts or dresses- something that has a ton of movement is always great!

Posing

My priority is for you to feel confident and comfortable at all times! I'll come prepared with a variety of poses to use throughout the session.

If I tell you to do something that feels a little funny, just know the weirder it feels the better it usually looks!

I'll do my best to keep an eye on your hair, makeup, and outfits to make sure things stay in place. I want you to feel as relaxed as possible and enjoy it!

Props

I really love making each session uniquely yours. Think about incorporating props and items that are important to you. If you play sports, bring your softball bat or football helmet, or if you are a big reader let's do some magical photos of you with some of your favorite books! There are so many fun options- think about what you want this session to reflect and how you want to feel.

What about the weather?

The weather in New England is constantly changing so I'll be checking the weather app constantly leading up to our session. If the weather app says it'll rain on the day of your session, I'll see if we can work around the rain- either moving your session earlier or later in the day to avoid the rain the best we can.

Let me know what works best for you - but if the weather looks like it won’t be great, I'll typically try to make the call at least 12 hours in advance.

I'm down to shoot in the rain & snow as long as we're safe & you are down for it as well. ( I shot this senior in the rain and it was awesome!)

after the session- getting your photos

After our session, I'll go home and edit all of the beautiful photos! Depending on my schedule and your package, this can take anywhere from 2-4 weeks but I do my best to keep you updated! You will get your gallery through a online link via email where you will get a step-by-step process on how you should download your photos and access to my print shop linked to your gallery.

To keep your photos forever, I recommend downloading them through the Google Photos option on my site! Keep in mind I will archive galleries as time goes by so please download your photos ASAP, I'll give you a warning email when your gallery will be archived.

photo alteration

Please don't alter your photos in any way ( filters, face tune, etc) If there is a problem, let me know ASAP and I can do my best to help figure it out! Keep in mind this is in the contract that you signed!

photoshop requests

I can photoshop unwanted objects out of photos, acne, etc. I can't make you into Bella Hadid or a Kardashian, I'm here to capture the REAL you!

social media

Please tag me in any social media posts afterward! @kaitlynchabotphoto Social media and referrals are a photographer's best friend and help so much! ( plus I want to hype you up!)

Thank You <3
